Dealing with site brightness

For those having issues with the brightness of the site, here is a handy tool to help deal with that issue.  http://justgetflux.com/

It's also possible to create a picture link:

[url=http://1x.com/images/user/6fe67f2d9fde4a32a6634b0f10d81d7e-hd2.jpg][img]http://1x.com/images/user/6fe67f2d9fde4a32a6634b0f10d81d7e-sd.jpg[/img][/url]

Result:

When you click on the picture it opens the full size version.

For those having issues with reading something or with reading something on a picture that is posted on the site, here's a little tip:

On a Windows PC:

Press and hold [Ctrl] and scroll up or press + to zoom in.
Press and hold [Ctrl] and scroll down or press - to zoom out.

On a Mac:

Press and hold Command ()  and scroll up or press + to zoom in.
Press and hold Command () and scroll down or press - to zoom out.

An old tip from RonthePirate I came across:

Quote:

Here's a trick: Say you want to check a torrent really fast for whatever reason. Maybe to make sure it's real, not a fake.
Go to preferences>advanced. Scroll down the list till you see

bt.prio_first_last_piece.

Change the "false" to "true"

Then apply, then OK.

Your utorrent will now download the first/last parts of the torrents you have in process.

That means, you can usually see what the movie/TV show/etc. looks like after only about 3-6%.
Very valuable in fake hunting.

If you see this behind a username, it means the account is disabled.

If you see this behind a username, it means the user has been warned by staff.

Set site time to your time zone:

Go to your account settings.

Go to "Your Settings" tab.

Scroll down to the bottom of your setup page and choose your timezone from the drop down list.

Click on "Submit".

Note: The time on the "Latest Forum" list at the right of your screen will not change when you set your timezone.

I have a cool little tip. Let's say you want to link to a post directly, so that when you share the link, people get directed to the post directly :tongue. Anyways, here's how to do it:

1. Go to the bottom of any post
2. Right-click the 'Report' button and click 'Copy link address'

3. Now, open notepad (or similar) and paste it there. Now, select everything up till "forumpost=" & delete it so you are left with a number. This will be the post ID.

4. Now copy the link of the thread. Then add "&page=" at the end and put in the page number, then at the end, add "#post" and then paste the post ID.

You should now have it. Look at the below examples, to know as to how your final URL should look like:

1. http://commonsensei69.org/forums.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=85&page=1#post49589
2. http://commonsensei69.org/forums.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=781&page=9999999#post96800

Hope I helped :wink

If you don't want to show in the online userlist, you can set your privacy on strong in your account settings. Go to "Your Settings".

Are you trying to log in or are you logged in with VPN on WWT and keep getting a captcha message? Switch server on your VPN. The server you are using has been reported for abuse (spamming etc.) and it is on a blacklist. Cloudflare (sort of firewall for site) uses that list and will keep requesting captcha for site security.

Nested quotes

This forum doesn't allow one to use an ordinary [quote] tag within another ordinary [quote] tag. For example,

[quote]
[quote]
first post
[/quote]
second post
[/quote]

gets garbled into

Quote:

Quote:

first post

second post

The solution is to always use attributed quotes instead.

[quote=second poster]
[quote=first poster]
first post
[/quote]
second post
[/quote]

yields

second poster wrote:

first poster wrote:

first post

second post

An alternative workaround is to use code instead of quote boxes. Those lack most of the features one typically expects from markup tailored to the presentation of code... which turns out to make them surprisingly suitable for this re-purposing! :)

[code]
[code]
first post
[/code]
second post
[/code]

is rendered as

first post

second post
